Happy 98th Birthday Uncle Marty!
Happy 98th Birthday to my Great Uncle Marty! What a guy...I only wish I could see him on a weekly basis again. This distance between us isn't fair! I'm looking forward to our next visit with him in November...

Arf Arf!
"Where did she go?!" "I don't know, but she left us here...with these weird people!"
Dexter and Bailey are visiting us once again! Nicole is taking a long weekend home in Wisconsin and we get the kiddies! We'll have to see if they can survive without Nicole for a few days....
Waiting by the door for her to come back....

Visit Catch Up!
Felipe enjoying some sweet corn.
We've had a nice week with mom visiting here. Nothing too crazy, just some nice afternoon and evening quality time. And fortunately the weather has held up for us! Wednesday evening we had a lovely little picnic at Riverside Park south.
Thursday we went over to the Upper East side and got Totonno's pizza, an old favorite of felipe's. Sorry - no snapshots from that! And we stopped afterwards at Agata & Valentina to pick up some yummy fresh made artichoke ravioli and mozzerella and roasted red pepper ravioli for dinner Friday night. It was delicious!
After dinner on Friday we took a walk around the Lincoln Center and people watched a bit. It was such a beautiful evening out!
Saturday was mostly laid back. Mom and I decided to take a walk around Central Park in the afternoon. It was super crowded with tourists! but fun none the less.
It's been a nice visit with mom. We're looking forward to having her visit again for Thanksgiving!

Galavanting around the Garment District
Mom and I took a long good walk through the Garment District yesterday searching through bolts and bolts of fabric. It was fun to look at each of them and imagine what you could do with all the colors and patterns. We found some good fabrics - mom found a great pattern with lots of color fruits on it (aprons anyone?), we also found a great fabric that she's going to make into a table runner for us for thanksgiving, and I found a great linen that she promised to make me a skirt with :D I will be sure to show you all the results!
I have to say, after about six or seven stores...and continuing on, it got to be a little sensory overload...so many colors, patterns, textures and bric a brac! But it sure was fun!

Our Fifth Anniversary
Top: Coney Island 2010
Bottom: Coney Island 2005
Nicole and I celebrated five years of living in the big ol' New York City this past week. We've had a lot of good times, and to celebrate it all we thought we should do something very New York. When talking with Nicole, we determined that one of the first things we did when we were bumming around was to go to Coney Island. So we thought it would be perfect to go there and spend a fun afternoon among the crowds. Mom just arrived to New York City on Friday, so she joined, as well as Sammi (another New York City transplant) and Frito. Of course Felipe was there too!! Although he came separately from us, he also arrived to the city just one month prior to Nicole and I.
The Beach was super crowded, as was expected - it was a beautiful day!
One of the first things we did was go on the Wonder Wheel (yes - I know the pics are taken at night and we first arrived in the early afternoon). Mom, Nicole, Sammi and I all got our tickets and waited in line to get one of the cars that rocks back and forth. Felipe opted to stay behind and watch from the safety of the ground, and look after Frito (Nicole's guide dog in training).
After that we all went over to MCU Park and watched the Brooklyn Cyclones vs. Connecticut Tigers baseball game - a perfect night to watch a ballgame next to the ocean!
The Cyclones ended up winning 3-2 in the bottom of the 11th inning, they really gave us all a great time!
After the game they did fireworks, we watched from the boardwalk. It was such an enjoyable afternoon/evening. A perfect way to celebrate. Happy fifth anniversary to Nicole and Felipe!
