Felipe and I had a nice, quiet, relaxing dinner at Riverside Park South on the Hudson River. Oh, how I am looking forward to more of these quiet evenings, with picnics and warm breezes.

Saturday Evening Sunset on the Hudson
Outdoor diners at SouthwestNY by the Hudson River
Last night Nicole took Felipe and I to dinner as a dog sitting thank you - we ate at a place near Nicole's called SouthwestNY. It's right on the Hudson River, and there was a beautiful view of the Sunset. It was a crystal clear evening, and so the colors were amazing. Above you can see a view of the outdoor dining patio that we sat at for dinner.
Below is a photo of a striking silhouette of a dog that was watching the sunset with its owner. The "park" was full of people walking dogs, biking, running and pushing strollers. It was a wonderful place to relax!

A Walk Beside the Dusk on Riverside Park
Last night Felipe and I took a lovely walk along Riverside Park South on the Hudson River. It was a beautiful night, the temperature was perfect and the passing rain left some pretty amazing clouds in the sky. We walked north a little bit, which gave us a nice view of the George Washington Bridge (see the picture above).
They had an old train caboose from the New York Central Railroad in the park that commemorated the former use of the piers in transport of goods from shipping barges to the Penn Central rail lines.
It was a beautiful walk - the sunset was fantastic! The old piers were great -
Felipe and I had a quiet time watching the water and the sunset. I realize now that we thought it would be a nice night to wear our jeans and black chuckies ;)
Looking down, I found that a kid was having a nice evening at the park too...

Memorial Day 2009
"Honor to the Soldier, and Sailor everywhere, who bravely bears his country’s cause. Honor also to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field, and serves, as he best can, the same cause—honor to him, only less than to him, who braves, for the common good, the storms of heaven and the storms of battle."
-Abraham Lincoln 1863
I know I am a day behind, but here we are with the memorial day post. I'll take just a moment to honor the spirit of the day. Happy Memorial Day to all those that have served for our county, and to one particularly special person in my life - Uncle Marty! There was a time that he sailed with the U.S. Navy. Here's one a great pic of my favorite sailor (with Great Grandma Azniv and Great Grandpa Mugerdich)!
The entirety of the day was wonderful. We started out with a picnic in Central Park. Felipe, Grace, Nicole, Michael and I spent a lazy afternoon playing frisbee, UNO, and Apples to Apples.
The weather was beautiful and the company was great!
Nicole approves....
After a nice long, leisurely time at the park we took a walk down the bike path along the Hudson River. Around 42nd Street and the Intrepid Museum there were bunches of tourists milling around chatting with the few sailors they could find on leave for fleet week. We continued south until we were able to meet up with Cord and his friend at the Frying Pan at pier 66. It was a lovely evening and perfect to sit with friends on a boat on the Hudson River watching the sunset!
At the top of the post you'll see a photo I grabbed of two sailors talking with a friend. The silhouette was too much to pass up. I hope everyone had as enjoyable a weekend as we did! I'm enjoying my last evening with my baby sis before she flies on home....

A Calmer Hudson
A nice view of a calmer, less airplane invaded Hudson River. Bravo to the pilot on Flight 1549, amazing to be able to land an airplane in the middle of a river safely and avoid going down over midtown Manhattan...that is a job well done!
