Happy Halloween!!!

Halloween 2012 (1)
Felipe and Grace at work.

Grace arrived this afternoon!  Only a day late too!  We had originally planned a fun pumpkin carving party - unfortunately the hurricane got in the way of making that possible.  We ended up cancelling the party per se - but kept up the pumpkin carving anyway...just the three of us.  We ordered pizza and popped the original Vincent Price version of "The House on Haunted Hill" while we planned our pumpkin designs.

Halloween 2012 (2)
I decided to go with a rat...inspired by our dear friend Mr. Ratolino.

Halloween 2012 (4)

Halloween 2012 (3)
Grace went with a Batman theme.

Halloween 2012 (8)
Felipe went with a crazy face pumpkin.

Halloween 2012 (5)
The finished pumpkins! Really pleased how they turned out.  We've roasted the seeds, which are now cooling on the kitchen counter and then decided to watch another movie...

The Shining!

Halloween 2012 (7)

Overall a terrific Halloween, albeit a quieter one than we had planned.  I'm so happy to have Grace in town for a visit.  She was asking what to do tomorrow with her day, and to be honest...I can't think of too many things that will be open or available to do tomorrow in Manhattan.  Well, we have lunch together to look forward to!  More posts to come soon!

Happy Halloween (part two)!!!

Pumpkins 2010

We had a great time carving pumpkins, and they turned out well! This year I decided to make a pumpkinstein :D

Pumpkinstein 2010

We had a special guest too - got to meet Josie for the first time. Josie is Nicole's new Guiding Eyes for the Blind Puppy...only 11 weeks old! Super cute and sits really well for photos. Hopefully we'll be seeing much more of her.

Happy Halloween!

I think for halloween this year I will go as...

Looking forward to some pumpkin carving, scary movies, apple cider and handing out candy to the kids!

I'll post pics of the pumpkin carving later on :D

Hollowe'en is coming soon....

Hallowe'en.

The New York Public Library has a fantastic collection of Halloween postcards on their flickr stream. I've picked some of my favorites here...

Hallowe'en pleasures.

Hallowe'en.

We plan on doing our usual Halloween pumpkin carving and movie night, this year, in addition to the Vincent Price House on Haunted Hill, we'll watch The Shining too! I'm looking forward to the roasted pumpkin seeds, and Felipe is looking forward to the spiced cider. Happy autumn everyone.

Happy Halloween everyone! Had a great time today passing out candy and watching zombie movies (apparently I've been missing out!)

Halloween - Part 1

Group Shot
We had a wonderful pumpkin carving party last night! Michael, Jake, Ashley, Nicole, Krikor, Sammi and Mike joined us for an evening of pumpkin carving and old horror movie watching. The photos are with my new camera...we're still learning about it and I'm looking forward to using it in daylight...

A lot of thought went into the designs.

We're making progress here :D

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
With the five pumpkins we carved we ended up with about two pounds of pumpkin seeds - Yay! Since Krikor wasn't carving a pumpkin, he did the honor of roasting up some yummy pumpkin seeds. We still have about 6 cups of seeds left to roast, so I think I will try out some other pumpkin seed seasonings...

Last night we had fun carving pumpkins and making caramel apples, and watching the Vincent Price version of House on Haunted Hill (Highly recommended, it's kind of a Halloween tradition for me). it was a very enjoyable evening.
