A Night at the Museum
Overlooking the sculpture garden.
About a week ago Friday, Felipe and I had a lovely date night at MoMA, finishing with dinner at the Bar Room at the Modern. We had a wonderful time, but man alive - the museum was BUSY! We really enjoyed the exhibit of Diego Rivera works, and a somewhat bizarre "print" exhibit. But I think one of my favorite exhibits was the "Born out of Necessity".
It was filled with various objects, not at all traditional art - but furniture, utensils, architectural details, modular rooms, and a variety of other really interestingly designed objects.
A Gaudi architectural detail and grate called "Stars and Doves". Was really nice to see a bit of Barcelona in NYC!
A very strange mask thing from something marked "Designs for an over populated planet: Foragers"
After the walk through the museum we had an absolutely delicious dinner at the Bar Room at the Modern. I had an amazing wild mushroom soup with chorizo ravioli, and a beef tenderloin with muenster cheese and potato gratin. Felipe had two types of Jamón with garlic crostini, and a Long Island Duck breast with pepper crusted apples and a truffle sauce. Super super yummy!! I highly recommend the restaurant for a special occasion.
